Destination Ireland

This week is a very busy week with four events and this one was another destination event. This was in the Corinthia hotel near Charing Cross station. It is a lovely classic style hotel

Our evening began over coffee and networking and then we were ushered into another room to watch the impressive sales figures and the imaginitive Jump into ad campaign which is proing to be highly successful

The aim of the evening was to concentrate on Northern Ireland which I wasn’t familiar with. Of course I know about Belfast and remember “The Troubles” but times have changed dramatically now, Belfast is a vibrant and modern city and Northern Ireland as a whole is a beautiful and safe destination.

After a lovely three course sit down meal with plenty of wine we had another treat in store from the amazing Arco duo from Belfast. They played a variety of both traditional and modern music on space age fiddles

We discovered that there are many reasons to visit the north. Titanic remembers its 100th Anniversary and there will be a grand opening next month of Titanic Experience Museum. We did see a computer walkthrough and there will be many aspects in the museum like an Oceanic section

Norhtern Ireland has some of the World’s best golf courses and the Golf Open will be at Portrush this year. It has been a long wait as the last Golf Open in Northern Island was in 1947. Rory McIlroy has also reminded the world of the talent that Northern Ireland has produced

Derry will be the European City of Culture in 2013. It is a walled city with some lovely Victorian buildings like the Guildhall

You are never too far from the sea and the furthest two points from each other would be 2 hours so if you hire a car, you can easily drive to Giants Causeway and Mountains of Mourne

There are many flights on scheduled and low cost airlines from all over the Uk and also ferry connections so this makes Belfast and Derry an ideal destination for a weekend break
