St. Kitts and Nevis poem entry

This was my entry – it didn’t win unfortunately. It had to include as many facts as possble and have a certain number of words

From Gatwick North, BA west and seaward

To Robert L Bradshaw in the Leeward

The airport code there is SKB

In  under 10 hours that’s what I would see

As the crow flies it would be quicker

But first there’s a short stop in Antigua

World Traveller, World Traveller Plus

Club World or First if you’re really flush

St Kitts, twice weekly on a 777

Ottley’s Plantation Inn is absolute heaven

500 feet up , what a fabulous view!

Relax at Mango Orchard Spa , then what shall I do

Eat New Island Cuisine at Royal Palm

There’s a huge spring fed pool or the sea so calm

Take the shuttle that goes to Basseterre

National Museum and Independence Square

St Christopher was the original name

And then later on, St Kitts it became

St Kitts Scenic Railway is unique

Brimstone Fort you should go and seek

Visit the beaches in the north east

And Frigate Bay for a lobster feast

Getting to Nevis is so quick and easy

Charlestown is very frequent by sea

Nevis is full of rainforest and reefs

Hike through nature trails or climb Nevis Peak

From November to April there’s little rain

The island was once full of sugar cane

The Great House built 1778

Now, Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, a 30 acre estate

There are 36 cottages scattered around

Inside The Great House, the cocktail lounge found

Coconuts and Sea Breeze are where you can eat

The Palm Spa is where you go for a treat

It’s the only Plantation Inn that’s right on the beach

Or if you want to go out, hire a scooter each

The wonderful islands of Nevis and St Kitts

Are definitely where my body fits
