Orient Express Promotion

We were invited to the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall. This elegant Victorian private members club was the perfect place to host the Orient Express luxury portfolio and its associations with the early 20th century

This years event was laid out geographically making it easy to identify the areas we wanted to see or that we specialize in. It also made all of us aware how much Orient Express is not just about trains. It is a growing worldwide brand showcasing luxury hotels, tours

As usual there were quite a few Travel Counsellors and it was lovely to catch up with friends and colleagues. It was also nice to meet two new Travel Counsellors who have just joined us

Of course Orient Express is primarily associated with the famous train depicted in the Agatha Christie murder mystery and a symbol of the wealthy Victorian era. The train no longer runs to Istanbul and with the growth of the airline industry, it is no longer feasible to run such a service on a daily or even a weekly basis so it now runs to Venice on occasional dates and ties up nicely with their hotel portfolio the famous Cipriani in Venice and their collection of luxury hotels in other parts of Italy, and they have recently introduced two beautiful hotels in Taormina in Sicily

Closer to home, Orient Express run day trips on two classic trains, British Pullman, Northern Belle, and overnight trips on the Royal Scotsman. Eastern & Oriental is the classic train of the East and goes between Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Laos and last but not least the famous Hiram Bingham from Cusco to Macchu Picchu in Peru. I will get the chance later this year to experience the Hiram Bingham. I am so excited about this wonderful rail journey on my first ever trip to South America

Their hotel portfolio also includes Le Manoir near Oxford, Das Cataratas in Brazil with spectacular views of Iguassu Falls, Botswana, South Africa, Bali, Australia, Mexico and the USA
