Here some extracts from feedback from honeymoon clients who have just returned from Brazil. They did an amazing 4-centre itinerary
Praia do Forte – The beach is great as it is sandy and when the sea goes out it leaves rock pools in the reef which are more like heated swimming pools full of tropical fish. The town is nice and safe (There are security gates to get into the town and there are security around the town), it has plenty of restaurants and was ideal for what we wanted (just a bit of relaxation). It has loads of new shops and is a bit like one of those outlet villages they have over here (might not be everyones cup of tea). The turtle sanctuary is definitely worth a look and the whale watching was excellent, I’d definitely recommend this.
Salvador– the historic town is very nice, there is plenty of decent architecture and historic buildings and some lovely little cafes with amazing views over the port and out to sea. They are currently doing quite a lot of restoration work to the buildings and squares (I assume for the world cup) so it would potentially be better in a year or so. The hotel was very convenient for the town and was very nice inside with very nice rooms. The only problem with the hotel was noise. We were on the top floor but as it is right on the street and windows are pretty much non existent you could hear everything. It was like sleeping on the actual street.
Iguassa Falls – Brilliant. The waterfalls obviously are amazing and the hotel (Das Cataratas) was even better. The room had views over the falls and although the falls were busy during the day as only hotel guests were allowed in the park after 5 it was like having them to yourself. The food and service at the hotel were also excellent, we ate in the restaurant twice on the terrace and the breakfast was 5*. Can’t fault this at all. I’d also recommend the spa and massage treatments. (its not cheap though)
Rio– Great city, very lively, obviously we did the usual tourist stuff which is excellent. Definitely prefer Christ the redeemer over Sugarloaf Mountain. The hotel (Porto Bay) was very good, right on the beach and we had a top floor room with excellent views down the Copacabana beach. Can’t fault the hotel. The section of the beach they have is very handy as they have security and sun loungers there for hotel guests. Rooms were very nice and staff were very helpful, it is close to several restaurants so you don’t have to walk too far in the evening.
